Introducing... Boogie Babies!

ATTD is proud to announce our newest class... Boogie Babies! This class is for our youngest stars! 1.5-3 year old's will have a great time in this combo dance and tumble class. This is an independent participation class where we will begin to develop rhythm, fine and gross motor control, and have tons of fun singing, dancing, and flipping together. Both a daytime and evening class will be available. Space in this class is limited! Students must be 1.5 by the first day of class and potty trained. Boogie Babies will participate in both Nutcracker and Spring Recital.

Kinder Dance

Welcome to Kinder Dance! This fun and action packed class is for dancers age 4-6 They will participate in a combo class with Tap, Ballet, and Tumbling. This class learns a routine for Nutcracker, and a routine for our spring recital. In tumbling we focus on core movements like forward rolls, cartwheels and bridges.

Youth Dance

Dancers age 7-11 grade begin building their strong foundation in dance technique. They can choose to take multiple classes throughout the week or focus on a single style of dance. Dancers who have completed a full year of classes are eligible to audition for the competition team, and will be evaluated for potential placement in the Junior Level.

Junior Level

Dancers are placed in Junior level by ability. They continue to strengthen their technique while developing artistry through more intensive training. Students in this level typically train multiple days per week and are eligible to audition for the competition team.

Senior Level

Senior Level placement is achieved through dedication and commitment to dance training. Dancers in this level train multiple days a week in multiple styles of dance. Senior dancers are eligible for Pointe as well as the competition team.

Tumbling

Tumbling 1, 2, and 3

Tumbling is a skill based class so dancers of mixed ages will be in class together. Tumble 1 skills include- forward and backward rolls, Left and Right cartwheels, bridges, and handstands. Tumble 2 skills include- forward roll variations, backward roll variations, 1 handed cartwheels, backbends, kickovers, and handstand variations. Tumble 3 skills include- front and back walkovers, front and back handsprings, front and back tuck, side aerials, rolling tinsica, and walking handstands

Pom

Youth Pom- for beginner dancers age 7-11. dancers will gain a foundational understanding of dance technique as well as cheer motions and jumps. This level has an optional competition.

Junior Pom- Dancers in this level begin learning multiple turns, kick variations, and combinations of cheer motions. This level also has an optional competition.

Senior Pom- Dancers in this level begin working on student choreography as well as advanced turns, kicks, leaps, and combinations of cheer motions. This level of Pom participates in multiple competitions.

Meet Miss Whitney

Miss Whitney has been studying dance since the age of 3. Her first class was with Miss Dotti Burton in Weslaco TX, then she studied at her mother's studio "Center Stage II" in Harlingen TX. In 1996 Lori Rodgers opened Rio Grand Valley Arts Studio in Harlingen TX where Whitney studied for the next 10 years. She studied Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Hip Hop, and much more from instructors:

She and several of her peers have gone on to pursue higher dance education as well as achieve professional careers. Miss Whitney went on to earn her BA in Dance Pedagogy from Colorado Mesa University in 2009. She attended masters level courses in dance at Texas Tech University until 2010 when she returned home to teach at RGVAS. During her time in The Rio Grande Valley she began writing syllabus for recreational and pre-professional level dance students. After moving to East Texas Miss Whitney has achieved several new certifications to add to her diploma such as: Tumble Bear Gymnastic Coach, Acrobatic Arts of Canada Certified Instructor, Dance Revolution Teacher Training, CLI Certified Instructor. Currently she is studying for her Masters Degree.

Miss Whitney has made dance her life's work and hopes to instill a love of dance into every student.
